The White House has announced an 11-billion-dollar weapons sales package for Taiwan. It's the second such deal under the current Trump administration and is likely to further strain relations between the US and China.

Taiwan has secured a record $11.1 billion US arms deal as China ramps up military pressure. The package includes HIMARS rocket systems, Javelin missiles, drones, and howitzers.

Washington says the sale serves US security interests, while Beijing condemns it as a violation of the "One-China" principle, which sees Taiwan as an inalienable part of China.

The deal still awaits congressional approval, but is expected to pass.
