The German public strongly opposes US military action in Venezuela. Seventy-two percent of respondents called it unjustified in a recent poll. only 12% support it. Chancellor Friedrich Merz has urged caution, citing legal complexity. Thirty-nine percent of respondents back his stance. But about 50% want a tougher response from the chancellor — even if it damages Germany's ties with the  United States, which could create security. Eighty-one percent of respondents fear a global trend of "might makes right."
