Trump's appointment of envoy to Greenland sparks anger

The governor of Louisiana has been given the new post for the autonomous Danish territory. He repeats President Trump's call for the US to take over the island. Trump says the US needs Greenland for security reasons.

Donald Trump has reignited his push to bring Greenland under US control, appointing Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry as Special Envoy to the island. Landry's vow to make Greenland part of the US sparked strong backlash from Denmark and Greenland, whose leaders insist the territory is not for sale. Most Greenlanders favor independence — but not joining the United States.
