How Acroyoga empowers blind people in Delhi

November 10, 2025

In Delhi, visually impaired youth deal with exclusion and fear in a chaotic city. But through acroyoga, they build trust and confidence, defying disability and societal neglect. Yoga helps them connect with their bodies and reclaim visibility in a world that often overlooks them.

In Delhi, blind yoga practitioners are redefining limits through Acroyoga—a dynamic form of yoga that blends strength, balance, and trust. The Yoga Artists Group, made up mostly of visually impaired members, uses touch and verbal cues to master complex asanas. For them, yoga is more than exercise: it builds confidence, emotional resilience, and independence in a city where accessibility is scarce. Suraj, one of the first members, overcame fear to become a teacher, inspiring others to believe blindness is no barrier to fitness or ambition. Their story shows how yoga empowers, connects communities, and offers hope for a more inclusive society.
