Hello!

I tried to setup WavelogGate in connection with hamlib 4.6.5 and faced some Problems.

first I checked the connection to the IC-7300:

rigctl.exe -m 3073 -r COM5 -s 38400  get_freq
10172000

Question: Why do u refer to a different rig number? In the WIki it is 306 in hamlib doc 3073....

afterwards I started the hamlib server:

From my point of view hamlib works.

The Wavelog-gate 1.1.12 is configured like this:

Strange behavior! If I use 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost in rigctld it works fine.

Otherwise the RigIDs have definitely changed

Some disclaimer in advance: We cannot provide full support to setup hamlib properly or help with OS-Problems.

Re the "issue" about Code for hamlib: cite from their docs: rigctld -l lists the codes for the rig. Possible that they changed the code.

Secondly let's try to explain what "Test" at WavelogGate does:
Test ONLY checks if the URL and if the key is correct by checking it with a dryrun of QSO-Transport (not CAT).
But: If key is correct, the CAT connection between the Gate and Wavelog also works.

It looks like theres an issue - on your setup - either at rigctld to your TRX or at rigctld to WavelogGate (hint: sometimes Windows blocks localhost connections, depends on your "firewall" which is often included within "virus-scanners")

Please try to restart WavelogGate after switching to hamlib. I just tested Hamlib (rigctld Hamlib 4.6.5 2025-09-05T19:49:48Z) here with WavelogGate 1.1.12 and had absolutely no problems to get it working.

Technically WavelogGate connects to 127.0.0.1:4532 (IPv4) and tries to poll VFO-Changes from there. if something blocks that 127.0.0.1 connection the Gate doesn't receive a frequency.

You can check the connection between WavelogGate and rigctld either via netstat command on windows or you look at the Gate-Window. Example (there's no frequency if it isn't working // turn VFO to make sure there's a change):
