With new updates and tweaks to the mega-popular multiplayer shooter happening all the time, PUBG Mobile is one game worth going back to again and again.
Designed specially for handheld devices, it’s easy to pick up, play and get stuck into some best-in-show player-versus-player action.
Not played in a while or ready to give the seminal battle royale shooter a first spin? Here’s why it remains a firm favourite among the App Store Editors.
The original battle royale
While other games may have recreated the battle royale formula since, when PUBG Mobile predecessor PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds launched in 2017 it took the gaming world by storm precisely because it was the first to do it.
Up to 100 players pile into an arena, playing individually or as teams. There, they fight to be the last one standing and earn a coveted Winner Winner Chicken Dinner, announced by the game’s now-iconic victory message.

It’s no mean feat by itself, but PUBG Mobile’s rounds are kept short and sharp as the safe zone on the map shrinks over time. It’s challenging and occasionally downright silly!
World-class action
Even if it wasn’t a genre pioneer, PUBG Mobile offers some of the best first-person action you can find in a game. The slick touchscreen controls offer a ridiculous amount of precision, so you never feel cheated out of a win.
In fact, the game is a great leveller in many ways, as you need to scavenge weapons and supplies at the start of every round. New and returning players need not fear, as you’ll have a pretty even chance against the experts – which keeps things very interesting!

Tons of new tricks
PUBG Mobile benefits from regular updates that offer everything from unique outfits, to new map features and unique gameplay mechanics. One past event even filled familiar maps with weird plants and gave the game’s characters plant-like abilities, so there’s always something new to explore.
Along with limited-time events like this are updates to the game’s Classic mode, with the game’s developers constantly working to improve things with tweaks to the controls and more. All this is to say that if you’re a first-timer, or you’ve more chicken dinners under your belt than a month of Sunday roasts, there’s never been a better time to drop in.
