From group presentations to club souvenirs, your academic career is brimming with opportunities to let your creative side shine. Here’s how you can add some colour and sparkle to your learning with Canva.
Beautify your presentations
You’ve put in the hours and done your research. Now it’s time to share your findings with your class. Presenting information in an easily digestible format is an art of its own, but Canva can help you streamline that process, even if you’re a design novice.
Pick a template and customise it with fonts and colours. And if you want to really engage your audience, try the interactive Game Presentation templates. Insert slides for quizzes, multiple choice questions and contest results, and keep your class on the edge of their seats.

Have fun with cool local fonts
Nothing says personalisation quite like a font face that fits right into your overall design. Whatever the tone or mood, Canva has a font that will help you tie that event invite or project cover together.
Languages such as Thai, Arabic, Cyrillic and Chinese are all supported in the app. Search for the one that works for you and you’ll find a list of the different fonts available in that language.
Preview your printouts
As great as your designs look on the screen, sometimes, you have to wonder how it would translate when it’s blown up as a poster or printed on a sports-day T-shirt.
For a quick preview, go to Menu, then select Smartmockups under Tools. Paste your design in the preset mask and get a feel for what it will look like on a website or even a commemorative mug.
Brainstorm together
The best ideas often come when minds come together. To collaborate in Canva, go to Menu, tap your profile, then “Account settings” to create your own team.
Enter your teammates’ emails to send them invitations to collaborate. Once they accept, you can collaborate on projects in real time and leave comments for each other while you work.

Become a video creator expert
Documenting your cramming sessions with studygrams is not just a great idea for short breaks – it helps keep you accountable while you’re preparing for that big test too.
To edit your footage, go to Templates and select Mobile Video. Select a format that fits the aesthetic you have in mind, then slot in your clips. You can also remove a video’s background with a Pro subscription, so you can narrate in whatever setting you choose, no green screen needed.
