Microsoft, I’d recommend you rewrite the entire linking code for this app. It’s impossible to link an iPhone to a PC (yes, I did use your troubleshooting steps) and the app is just designed horribly. You could just put an error code below the error message, but NO - we have to figure it out ourselves. Intel Unison (or any other app from your computer’s manufacturer) is way better than this piece of hot garbage.
