Super League newcomers York Knights have signed half-back Will Roberts and utility back Nikau Williams.

Roberts, 20, was released by St Helens at the end of last season after having had loan spells with Swinton, Rochdale and Widnes.

New Zealander Williams, 26, spent the 2024 campaign with the Knights and scored 10 tries in 26 appearances.

The Knights, who open their inaugural Super League campaign against reigning champions Hull KR on Thursday, 12 February, have not confirmed the length of contract either player has signed.

On Williams, head coach Mark Applegarth told the club website:, external "He's a player I've been chasing ever since he had to go back to Australia.

"We didn't want him to leave in the first place and we're delighted we've got him back."
