A mother has paid tribute to her son after his death in a crash in West Yorkshire on New Year's Day.

Nathan Paul Bushnell, 31, was killed when his black Vauxhall Astra overturned on Ouzelwell Green, Lofthouse, at about 02:00 GMT.

In a statement issued through West Yorkshire Police, his mum said it was "always a blessing" to be in the presence of the father-of-four, who she described as "gentle at heart".

"Losing you has broken me in ways I never thought possible," she said.

"From the fun times to the saddest moments I will always cherish your loving support and those tight bear hugs," she added.

"Your legacy will carry on in your four beautiful children, and I will always watch over them closely with you making sure they hold the memories we have of you forever.

"I miss you so much my dear son. Love you always."

Any witnesses to the crash have been asked to contact police.
